Summertime…

For many students with dyslexia the school year and final exams

are a long and gruelling process…

They can be totally drained at this point in the year and really need the summer vacation time to decompress and to recharge for the next academic year.

Sending a student like this directly into summer school for extra math help is often completely ineffective.

They are exhausted mentally, physically and emotionally and require this downtime to rest and replenish.

Any material presented at this time may not “upload” and retention may be an issue into the next school year.

A more effective approach, is to begin working a week or two before the start of the next grade, when students are refreshed and better able to focus and retain the content. Previewing material is also extremely effective at this time for preparing students to have successful academic outcomes in the upcoming year.
